Especially during the Corona pandemic, the interaction between teachers and students is
disrupted or only possible on a dysfunctional digital level as school operations in primary schools are
currently taking place under strict hygiene regulations, including social distance of at least 1.5 metres
and face masks during lessons. Thus, pupils’ emotions (i.e., anxiety, anger, shame etc.) are recognized
worse by the teachers (or not at all) and a possible emotion dysregulation cannot be prevented or
intervened upon (i.e., aggressive behavior, refusal to work etc.). Teachers are not prepared for this; to
date, hardly any explicit training program or further education for teachers has been offered in this
area. Thus, the goal must be the promotion of the interaction between teachers and pupils in face-toface and online learning situations in order to create positive child development and a helpful learning
environment since this situation will continue for many years until it normalizes. For this purpose, the
workshop Promoting the teacher-student interaction in achievement-emotions situations is to be held.
The aims of the workshops are to 1. Discuss findings on the impact of current restrictions on teacherstudent interactions in achievement-emotions situations with researchers and principals, and 2. talk
about possible/thinkable or already implemented interventions to promote the teacher-student
interaction in achievement-emotions situations during online and attendance teaching.
