Apply for a Fellowship
The Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg offers fellowships of varying type and duration for individual scientists and scholars as well as artistic residencies to artists with a keen interest in the sciences:
- Regular fellowships for academics whose PhD dates back more than five years,
- Junior fellowships for academics who obtained their PhD within the past five years,
- Associate Junior Fellowships (non-residential) are open to early career researchers from Northwest Germany only. Please apply here,

Conditions
The Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg awards residential fellowships to exceptionally qualified researchers. Fellowships may last 3 to 10 months. The selection procedure is a one-stage process. Residency at the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg is mandatory. Exact financial conditions and timeframe are subject to individual agreement. The HWK supports researchers who wish to take up fellowships accompanied by child(ren), spouse, or partner. Review the application guidelines for full conditions.
Eligibility
Applications may be submitted for all academic disciplines. Applicants intending to do experimental or laboratory work are welcome, but must enclose confirmation of access to research infrastructure at a regional academic institution. Review the application guidelines for full eligibility criteria.

Applications in the area of BRAIN & MIND
Scientists from the field of medical-clinical research or digitalisation in medicine are eligible to apply for a Joint Research Fellowship (duration: 6 months) in collaboration with the Oldenburg School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
