Fellowship "Artist in Residence"
The Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg (HWK) considers arts and science as different but complementary approaches to knowledge acquisition. Both approaches may benefit from a deeper mutual understanding of their individual characteristics. To this aim, the HWK intends to employ its art in progress program to encourage the dialogue between the arts and sciences by supporting artists who engage with science and research in the context of their work, be it in an artistic-practical or a methodological-analytical way. The HWK aspires on the one hand to encourage science practitioners to reassess their scientific activities from the perspective of the arts, and on the other hand to provide inspiration to artists by exposing them to the methodological and thematic diversity of scientific research.

Fellowship in Cooperation with the Landesmuseum Kunst & Kultur Oldenburg
The aim of this project, which will award two fellowships, is to reconsider European curatorial practices, insofar as they are scientifically observable and documentable, from different humanities or curatorial vantage points and to bring them into a fruitful dialogue. This may also take into account the historical dimension of mutual inspiration, for example, where collection and selection have already led to encounter and exchange in terms of cultural history. The project is based on the assumption that representatives of other cultural circles could make European viewers more aware of self-evident elements shaping regional curatorial practices than the viewers themselves would be on their own.
