Projects & Publications
In 2005 some of the leading sea ice researchers in Europe came together in HWK for a workshop looking towards the next few decades of sea ice research. This workshop was sponsored by HWK and the European Science Foundation (ESF). Nearly 25 years later we will use the time of the Twin Fellowship to look back at whether or not these "predictions" became reality or not.We will also take the time to reflect on what could potentially be the future for sea ice research in the coming decade(s). Naturally much of the discussion will dwell on the effects of climate change influences on Arctic sea ice that has rapidly accelerated since the 2005 meeting.
This work will involve David Thomas and Mats Granskog (at HWK) together with sea ice researchers from Bremen, Bremerhaven and Hamburg.
It is hoped to publish a commentary on the findings of this reflective opportunity.
