Abstract

Background

Brain conditions affect around one in three people globally. These conditions are hard

to study, especially in contexts where neurologists and medical equipment are limited.

Knowing what causes these disorders could help prevent them, but researchers need

new ways to collect data, particularly in areas that are often overlooked. New digital

tools can help collect data, but they are often designed for clinical purposes, rather

than research.

Aim

This project aims to improve the NeuroEpiTool, an easy-to-use, free online tool that

helps health researchers detect possible signs of brain conditions without needing a

neurologist. The goal is to get feedback from health professionals and researchers on

how to make the tool better for research.

Method

Approximately 15 health experts will participate in group discussions to share their

opinions on the current version of the tool and how to expand its value. Their feedback

will help improve it and add new questionnaires about everyday exposures.

Impact

The improved NeuroEpiTool will make it easier for researchers to study brain health,

especially where resources are limited. It can help uncover links between brain

conditions and what people are exposed to in their environment, like chemicals at work.

By helping gather this important information, the tool will inform better prevention

strategies.
