LEARN FROM OTHERS' EXPERIENCES: TIPS FOR YOUR STAY IN GERMANY

A useful link targeted specifically at international researchers moving into the European Union is EURAXESS, a service provided by the European Commission. You can search the site by destination (country) and get a lot of useful general information.

The pages of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research  “Research in Germany”  offer many facts and figures on research in Germany, including research funding.

Facts about Germany's history, culture, economy, political system, research, education and other topics can be found at "Tatsachen ueber Deutschland (Facts about Germany)" . In addition, try the pages maintained and created by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Alumniportal Germany is a webservice for former residents of Germany, i.e. "alumni" - useful for future residents, too - offering information on language, culture, science and research, training initiatives, job offers etc.

The Welcome Center of University of Bremen supports researchers and their families on all “non-academic” questions and offers a lot of information online. Similarly, the University of Oldenburg's International Office (IO) has put together useful information for international guest scientists.
