After the long vacancy of the manager position in the area of Social Sciences at the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg, the position was filled on May 1 with the social scientist Dr. Susanne Fuchs. Dr. Fuchs has taught and carried out research in Berlin, Leipzig and New York City and most recently acted as deputy for the coordinating director of the research area Civil Society, Conflicts, and Democracy, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Merkel, at the Wissenschaftszentrum in Berlin. Dr. Fuchs is excited by the new challenge of her scope of duties at the HWK and, in particular, by the interesting collaborations with the regional social science institutes and the interdisciplinary cooperation with the other academic areas of the HWK.
Beginning on September 1st, the HWK was able to fill the Research Manager position in the area of Neurosciences and Cognitive Sciences with the psychologist Dr. Dorothe Poggel, so that Wolfgang Stenzel, who headed this department until then, can establish the new area of Energy Research, which was launched at the beginning of the year. Dr. Poggel worked previously in Berlin, Magdeburg, Bad Tölz, Boston and Göttingen in the fields of neuropsychology, psychophysics and imaging of visual attention, and with this vast horizon of experience, is now taking over the management of the area of Neurosciences and Cognitive Sciences at the HWK.
"With the qualified personnel of all four academic areas, the requirements are now met to continue the further development of the HWK, to establish new central questions and new research projects, and to bond the best minds to the HWK as a place of understanding,†said HWK Rector Prof. Dr. Reto Weiler of his complementary team.
