The Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg awards fellowships to highly qualified scientists at all career stages from postdoc to senior researcher. Applicants may work in any discipline and apply from anywhere in the world (except Northwest Germany). Applications involving experimental and/or laboratory work are welcome, but should include confirmation of access to research infrastructure at a nearby institution.
Fellowships may last 3 to 10 months. Find out more about the different fellowship categories here. Residency at the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg throughout the fellowship is mandatory. Financial conditions are to be negotiated individually after successful application.
The Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg publishes one annual call for applications with a deadline around mid-July. Applications should be submitted at least one year before the desired commencement of the fellowship. Scientists from the field of medical-clinical research are eligible to apply for a Joint Research Fellowship in collaboration with the Oldenburg School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Postdocs from the field of hearing research, who would like to collaborate with the Cluster of Excellence Hearing4All may apply for the Joint H4A & HWK Fellowship (duration 24 months: 9 months Fellowship in residence at the HWK, afterwards 15 months research position at the University of Oldenburg).
